• Yes you will need an adapter for each appliance. They work great with the smart home app, allowing you to monitor the laundry process from your smart phone. Others have indicated that you can only monitor but it must depend on the appliance model because I can start and stop both Samsung washer and dryer using my smart phone. However, setup can be a little tricky but not time consuming.

• Yes, the washer needs one and the dryer needs a separate one. There is a little door on the top of each machine that opens and you slide the device into the port.
