Horrible productPosted .
Bought two of these adapters for my washer and dryer. Set up was easy but the app instructions are wrong. I had to look at the owners manual that came with my washer and dryer to figure out how to set it up. Set up took about 2 mins after that. Once set up, everything worked as expected. Was able to start my washer and dryer and see how many mins were left on each cycle, but after a few mins I opened the app to check on things, and it said my washer was disconnected. Then a few more mins later, it said my dryer was disconnected. Had to hold the smart control button down again and then I was able to see it connected. Then after 10 mins, it was disconnected again. I finally gave up and will be returning these things cause they are a total waste of money. They worked great when they work, but that’s hardly ever. I have a excellent WiFi signal in the room they are located, but they always disconnect from my WiFi.No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not sure whyPosted .
Purchased these for my new washer and dryer (xx45K6500xx series). Setup was pretty straight forward once I figured out that these adapters were not compatible with my new AC access points. I was unable to complete the setup until I connected the washer and dryer to the wifi on an older (non AC) router. Maybe I could have gotten them to work on the newer access points, but wasn't really worth the effort to me, since the adapter doesn't talk directly to your phone app, but instead uses Samsung as a middle tier. This means that your phone and washer/dryer do not necessarily need to be on the same WiFi network. You have to do the setup for each new phone. So if you have two phones, you will do the security setup on the washer twice and on the dryer twice. On to functionality...once you have everything setup and talking, if you want to control your washer or dryer from your phone, you have to power on, close the door, and press the Smart Control button on each appliance…which is so much better than setting your washer or dryer cycles while standing in front of them. Btw, once the load is done, and the washer or dryer powers off, you will have to repeat the steps, including manually turning the Smart Control back on. So what do you get if you don't use Smart Control? You can monitor the progress of your wash/dry load, and you will get notifications if something goes wrong or the load completes. Samsung gets to monitor the appliances and collect data on how you use your washer and dryer. I can see this being useful in a roommate situation, or perhaps your in-house staff should be kept apprised whilst they perform other chores, or your house is so large that you can’t hear the annoying 30 second completions tones, or you have $50 burning a hole pocket and you just like technology, or you must obsessively monitor the status of your washing/drying, or you want to make sure Samsung is in the loop on your laundry…well then, these adapters might be just the ticket. For me they are a bit like adding a 5th tine to a fork…sure you can…but why?No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great service - ok productPosted .
This is an "ok"product, lets you know when your load is done, but not much further functionality, besides troubleshooting. This should be something that should come with washer purchase, in my opinion.I would recommend this to a friend

Three stars is accuratePosted .
I wanted to be the first on to give this a positive review. Unfortunately, this device is exactly as the other reviews indicate. I ran into a minor glitch in set up but it was easily resolved. It connects to the internet fairly easily. In order for this device to work, you must press the Smart Control button. On the washer, it locks the door. I thought you would be able to see the status of you loads or get a message when complete. Only if you press the smart control button. if you don't the appliances are offline. So, if I load the washer with clothes, why would I want to take these extra steps to have my phone control this? It takes time for it to connect to the internet and this slows the process down. I don't think I will ever use it. As the previous reviews indicate, don;t waste your money on this device. Hopefully, Samsung will develop a firmware update to improve this. Samsung is better than this. No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It's okayPosted .
It could have been a lot better. Setup took some time figuring out. Smart controls have to be enabled everytime to use it meaningfully so that's a bummer. Also, electric usage is only viewable when smart controls are enabled while doing a load. Also, shared with my spouse but it asks to register device again - so go through whole setup - bummer. Shows machine as disconnected at all times except when running a load. Basically a glorified notification gadget for laundry being complete. Samsung should be giving these along with the machine for the feature set. Hopefully, future software updates make this more usable. No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Works well, but with limited functionalityPosted .
I bought the smart home adapter for my Samsung refrigerator. I was looking for a specific adapter for the refrigerator, but it turns out that there is only single Samsung adapter for appliances. I plugged it into my refrigerator, downloaded the app, and synced up the two. For some reason, there are two separate apps available and they both offer the same functionality. It works well, but offers limited control over what can be done. One can only monitor the temperature of the fridge and freezer; there is no way to change the said temperatures. The adjustments include turning the ice dispenser, power freeze and power cool on/off. That's about it. One interesting option is keep track of energy usage over the course of days/weeks/months. Overall, satisfied, but I wish there was a way to change the temperatures, especially, on the flex drawer.I would recommend this to a friend

Ok but the software needs to improvePosted .
This dongle installs easily but the it took AGES to set up and connect to my wifi. In the end I had to completely disable the 5ghz band on my router during the whole process. Now working well, although the app needs better functionality (scheduling etc)I would recommend this to a friend

This product was so terribly hard to get working and to connect to my washing machine. I had to work for 2 days trying to constantly reconnect my washer to my Wi-Fi. It still says I'm not connected, but every once in a while when I run my washer it says cycle complete so I assume it's working now. That's why I gave it any stars at allNo, I would not recommend this to a friend
Q: QuestionDoes anyone know the difference between this adapter and the adapter called (2018 Laundry) model #HD2018GH ?
Asked by Doug.
- A:Answer Doug, I was on the phone with Samsung about this last week. The HD2018GH is supposedly the model released in March 2018, but I can't find it ANYWHERE. I see ONE online retailer. I don't know what's going on and I'm frustrated since i just bought a new Samsung washer and dryer that specifically for this type of features.

Q: QuestionDo I need a adapter for my washer, it's a WA50M7450A? If so I am a bit unhappy because this wasn't explained at time of purchase.
Asked by Buckeye.
- A:Answer Yes, I bought this one for my refrigerator even though it says It’s for laundry. I agree WI-FI should be built in if your spending thousands on an appliance.

Q: QuestionIs this just a WiFi adapter?
Asked by Mj.
- A:Answer This is the smart home adapter for certain Samsung washers and dryers. Specifically, it works with the 45K6200, 45K6500, and 50K7500 series of washers and dryers. It also requires the Samsung Smart Home app for Android and iOS as well as home wifi.

- A:Answer Yes you will need an adapter for each appliance. They work great with the smart home app, allowing you to monitor the laundry process from your smart phone. Others have indicated that you can only monitor but it must depend on the appliance model because I can start and stop both Samsung washer and dryer using my smart phone. However, setup can be a little tricky but not time consuming.
