Can I mount this on a lath and plaster wall? null

You most certainly can mount this on lath and plaster walls. The key is finding the studs - and honestly finding the center of the studs. The mount itself is really heavy, and then you're putting a heavy television on the end of a long lever. That's a ton of force on those four lag bolts. If you hit the edge of a stud with those bolts, nothing good is going to happen. So drill a bunch of tiny pilot holes to find the two edges of the stud. Lath and plaster makes it really hard to find studs. Just make sure you're anchoring that truly in studs and not just the lath.

We have appt. March 9th to have Best Buy install our 55" Television. Our wall is Plaster and Lath, do your installation Professionals, encounter these kind of walls often??

Yes. Use a rare-earth magnet to find the studs behind your plaster walls since a stud finder won't work. You might even have to drills small exploratory holes in the wall, or better yet if there is an electrical outlet, this was mounted on a stud so you know one stud is there and measure from the center. The outlet's are often put to one side or the other. Take the plate out and you might see the stud behind. Depending on age of house it might be 16 or 20 inches from center to each stud in plaster/lathe walls. Good luck.

Should I use longer lag bolts than the ones provided with the mount?
