“I am trying to mount a 82in tv using this product. The spacing says min of 16in, our studs on the wall are weird, We would have to do it at like 13in. which would make a little more weight to the left, will this work? Or will the tv fall?”

I don’t see it being an issue as it can slide horizontally with a nice little buffer of space. And you’re mounting some big screws into the stud. It’ll work out for you.
