“When Flush against the wall, how far will this mount slide side-to-side? I need ~6"to 10" side to side when flush to fit in space and use existing studs. I do need a mount that will pull out (just to add / replace cables).”

When flush against the wall, the TV will not move side to side at all. HOWEVER, there is some degree of flexibility in where the mounting plate is attached, so the plate could be attached offcenter,and the TV moved to center when extended.it is easy to pull the mount out to add cables, but very stiff to push it back.
