I don't know about that. It has 3 settings. 1. carpet high 2. carpet low 3. tile or hardwood. I have all laminate flooring and it works wonderful.

I truly am puzzled by your question. The Shark that I just purchased vacuums both hardwood floors and several different types (i.e. thickness) of carpets.
