Hello Taffybentley, We would like to inform you that the Shark - Professional Electronic Steam Pocket® Mop has an On/Standby button. By pressing the button once, the steam mop will be in Dist mode. Pressing the button a second time will put it in Mop mode. Continue to press the button until the light around it flashes to stop the steam. We hope this information helps. The Customer Support team
