2 pads, no it doesn't stand on its own, and you don't have to push any buttons while cleaning

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.2 Pads come with steam mop. It does stand up on its own and there are setting for the amount of steam you want/need. I had another brand that died and this is much easier to use. I would recommend it. I also purchased addition mop pads on Amazon.
