You'd probably want two robots. The mapping process takes 10-30 runs to make a map of a floor and it isn't set up to move the base between floors of the house. If you just wanted to carry the robot to the other floor and let it randomly drive around and then carry it back to the base, it'd vacuum while on the other floor, but you'd loose the advantage of it automatically leaving base, doing it's thing and self emptying.
