• Yes this Shark is not motor driven like the higher end Shark models, so it takes a little effort to vacuum.

• No, its almost like a self propelled - pulling in the direction away from you. Easy and lightweight to manage.

• It was hard to push on my thick shag rugs, but I didn't have a problem with carpet. Make sure you are using the beater bar option when you turn it on, and you may need to turn the suction down near the handle.
