Hello, based on the installation instructions, the unit should be installed in a space with its own electrical circuit breaker which should be properly grounded. The length of the power cord is approximately 48 inches when facing the unit, the power cord is located at the top left. Adequate space should be left at the back of the unit to allow sufficient spacing for the power cord to be plugged in the aforementioned outlet. Once all installation instructions are followed and the unit can securely fit in your island, the length of the island is not important.
