Drawer microwaves and this model in particular look great. We did a big reno in December and this is now in the island. Looks good and functions as a basic microwave. Everything else is just south of mediocre. I'd suggest you get a drawer microwave from another company. Bad Stuff: - door opens/closes very slowly (~4 seconds)... doing a 30 second reheat now takes 4+4+30+4+4 = 50% longer just standing around. Likely similar with other drawers, but an unexpected negative. - doesn't let you tell it to start until fully closed - its default sounds and reminders are ridiculously annoying - beep-beep-beep on finish, and 10 seconds after that, and 10 seconds after that, and.... on and on - it forgets all settings during a power outage, turning back on the annoying sounds - and forgets your network connection - but good news, you won't want to use that feature - controls are not intuitive - classic 40 buttons where you use 5 The WiFi & App - hilariously bad. Design in your head the things you would want in a microwave app. Sharp engineers designed the opposite. Can you set the alarm settings in the app? No. Do you get a notification each time the microwave finishes cooking? Yes. I guarantee you will delete the app within 48 hours. Hand Wave to open. Neat right? No. Take how long it takes for this thing to open/close and add another 4-8 seconds of waving your hands (which are full food, else you'd just press the button) to then wait for the drawer to open. Push to close works well, but it reacts in a weird way, so some concern i'm breaking it. I stopped doing wave to open after the first week and stopped trying to demonstrate it to friends after one month (cause it will make you look silly). Height - just tall enough - fits a Venti coffee Cooks at 950watts - basically the same power as a college-dorm microwave Cost. my god, how much did i spend on this. The good: Looks good Flush install if you have a good installer; mine is shown in a 30" wide lower microwave cabinet by Medallion Reheat sensor cook works well push to close works It was suggested that I buy a Sharp because they have the patent on the drawer microwave and everyone else is just a relabeled Sharp. I would suggest you give the others a look. They may be using the same hardware, but hopefully they have a more customer-focused interface and better software engineers working for them.

This is such a joy! The drawer moves pretty smoothly. I love that you can set it to open with the wave of your hand. Warning: don't fill coffee cups too high as it could splash when opening and closing the door.

I’ve only had my Microwave Drawer a few weeks but I absolutely love it and it looks so sleek and modern in my kitchen. The only thing I need to do is turn off the wave open due to my Great Danes opening it up while counter surfing my island. Was a little nervous about getting after reading some reviews but literally everything out there will have a negative review by someone. Decided to go with what I wanted and it was the right decision for me and the overall look of my kitchen.

Smooth operation, no handle makes it seemless in out island... would recommend for anybody that wants one less visible appliance on the counter or higher!

Great sleek modern design. Showstopper since cabinet microwaves are still fairly new. Hand waiving tech is not as precise as we'd like, hard to find the sensor.

Very stylish and saves a ton of counter space the installation did take me all day to do I used a 30 in cabinet make sure you purchase the end panels to fill the gaps the microwave is very quiet and works as expected I think it was a good purchase for my house

Very useful, saves my back from having to bend over to use the microwave. Make sure you read the dimensions carefully the microwave is wider than the box dimensions

Had my kitchen remodeled and purchased all new appliances from Best Buy. All Whirlpool except this drawer microwave. The appliances were delivered prior to the kitchen being ready for them, so we could avoid delays due to back orders. Microwave doesn’t heat food upon install by my contractor, and needs a new magnetron. Because it’s been more than 14 days, I have to jump through hoops with the manufacturer vs. getting a new one straight from Best Buy. Super disappointed in the service from Best Buy. Also having issues with 2 of the Whirlpool products.

It is a real space saver and operates well when working. It was delivered by Best Buy in excellent condition and was installed without damage in a cabinet made per Sharp’s specifications. Unfortunately it did not heat despite no damage and proper installation. Sharp provided a qualified tech who adjusted the unit and it initially worked fine at first, but then only intermittently when used later same day. The heating magnetron was not activated because a connection on the right side of the drawer was not making contact. This can be “fixed” by pressing manually on the right upper side of the drawer to force contact. That contact should occur when the drawer closes. Sharp sent the tech out for a second adjustment and so far - only a few days - so good. Sharp did not charge for tech but still disappointing -especially in a $1,500 unit. Have not tried a lot of fancy features. Microwave drawer is a real space saver but an expensive appliance that does not appear to have all the kinks worked out in my limited experience. I will withhold judgment until I see how it operates in long run. I gave it a three because design is a space saver and am hoping it will continue to function but cannot recommend based on experience to date.

Easy to install and works great. The auto wave open works great, but maybe not if located in a walking area as it can open unexpectedly when walking by. Bright and easy to clean and love the flip out panel so you can see. Heating temp works well. No turntable yet heats still food evenly so one less item to break.

Drawer microwave (lead by Sharp) is a terrific idea and improves space utilization and safety. However, this model seems to lack a thorough thinking about controls. Here are the negatives: Waving to open the drawer doesn't open the controls thus requires two motion. When setting the time to microwave and then you press Close or Start, it does nothing. You would think the drawer would close and start the microwave instead you have to press Close and wait until it closes and then Start. Then when the drawer is opened after you take out the food (usually with both hands), wouldn't you think it should auto close after a minute or so? When power is interrupted wifi setting, clock and other settings are wiped out. very annoying. Good product but leaves a lot to be desired especially for a high end product.

Great Microwave. Easy to use and looks great. The only issue I have is if I choose Defrost I need to watch it constantly because it keeps stopping to Rotate food or similar things. Sharp Customer support said that is how it is but can manually do Defrost by setting Power at 30%. My old GE microwave would remind me to turn food but keep going if I did not do it.

I couldn’t be happier with my decision to buy this! Very convenient with the pull out drawer as well as a stunning addition to my kitchen. Very sleek and modern design makes it an absolute eye-catcher as well as excellent efficiency when it comes down to heating food!

Recently purchased for a kitchen remodel and it worked out perfectly. I replaced a clunky over-the-range microwave with this one, and I'm happy with my decision in more ways than one. I was able to install the drawer microwave right under the countertop and it is tucked away (flush with the cabinet) and very sleek. It has great power, plenty of pre-set options, and cooks very consistently. Keep in mind when buying a drawer microwave - all of them are made by Sharp - even the really expensive brands. I would encourage you to save a few bucks and purchase this one.

Very clean design. Make sure to check to to see if you need the additional trim kit that was not included. Mine will have to be trimmed at the top also by the cabinet maker. It says its finger printless, but its not. You can clearly see prints everywhere and it constantly has to be cleaned and wiped on the front. All and all very stylish and appears to heat well. Cooks much faster compared as to what we are used to. So cut the instructions in half.

Fantastic addition to a remodeled kitchen. Hard to find a good place for a microwave but this fit the need.

The drawer microwave is so easy to use and saves us space by having it as a drawer and not on the counter. The control panel is easy to open and read. It is good to close the panel when not in use. I like lifting items out of the microwave, but you need to be careful if the item is too hot.

Love its sleek design, function and heating capabilities.
