  • QuestionAre all of the microwave controls backlit or just the clock and time count?

    Asked by Kate.

    • Answer I'm on the internet searching for the answer to this same question and found yours. Only the center clock area is illuminated on mine. I thought it was surely a defect, but maybe it is the design. If so, its a pretty bad design. The buttons are hard to see. I end up using my microwave with my cell phone flash light.

  • Questionwhat is the size cabinet with do you need for this microwave

    Asked by bob.

    • Answer Short Answer: Use a 27" wide cabinet for an inset/flush mount and a 24" 'proud' mount. The microwave is about 23.5" wide. A cabinet will be its total width, minus 3/4" on each side for the box. A 24" wide cabinet has a maximum internal width of 22.5". This varies again depending on if you have "euro" style or "american" style cabinets and how big the final opening should be. I'll leave those to you or your installer. Proud: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5076536/microwave-drawer-installed-incorrectly-in-inset-cabinets Inset/Flush: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5739212/photo-of-sharp-microwave-drawer-with-deflector-vent-installed Last note: Inset is not always better, but it is better more often. If the drawers are inset, then the draw itself is inset/flush to the face of the cabinets (much more expensive). This setup should try to inset the microwave too. This looks the best when done flush and looks the worst when drawers are inset but the microwave is proud. This is what happened in the above "installed incorrectly" post - it wasn't installed wrong, the person has the wrong cabinet size to fit the microwave flush. If the drawers are full-overlay, then the drawers are 'proud' to the face of the cabinet. If the microwave will be 'tight' to cabinets to sides and bottom, then a proud mound may look good - instead of flush to the cabinet face, the microwave could be flush to the drawer face. If everything is nice and tight, but you inset the microwave, then the microwave will look good (flush to cabinets) but maybe awkward not flush to drawers (this is my setup - not by choice).

  • QuestionDo we need to leave additional clearance for wiring? What is the min. overall size of the island that this can be installed on? For example can this be installed on a 26" island?

    Asked by meg.

    • Answer Hello, based on the installation instructions, the unit should be installed in a space with its own electrical circuit breaker which should be properly grounded. The length of the power cord is approximately 48 inches when facing the unit, the power cord is located at the top left. Adequate space should be left at the back of the unit to allow sufficient spacing for the power cord to be plugged in the aforementioned outlet. Once all installation instructions are followed and the unit can securely fit in your island, the length of the island is not important. For more in depth details on installation a professional installer should be contacted.

  • QuestionDo you need a trim kit for the installation of this microwave drawer? Do you sell it as well?

    Asked by Mermo.

    • Answer Trim kit depends on your cabinet setup - Inset vs. Overlay - and size of cabinet, but often is not needed. Short answer 1: if you have Inset drawers on your cabinets, then you will want inset microwave. To inset this 23.5" microwave on an american style cabinet, you'll need a 27" wide cabinet. No trim kit should be needed. If you need the microwave in a 30" wide lower, then get the trim kit to span the difference. Short answer 2: if you have overlay drawers on your cabinets, then you could choose to either mount 'proud' on a 24" (no kit), or inset on a 27" (no kit). I searched the web and was able to find zero photos of the trim kits installed.
