I just had one of these detect a major dishwasher flood at 2am. The sensor itself didn't make any noise, but a pleasant alarm and voice continued to go off on the base station until we muted the alarm. You should be able to hear it only if the base station is near you, it's not very loud (about as loud as person talking.) That might be sufficient to wake a light sleeper, but we were alerted by the automated version of a security call from the monitoring service, as well as text messages. We have the paid service, so I'm unsure if this type of alert-call is free. Either way, we are grateful to have prevented a major damage issue to the house and new hardwood floors. Worth it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I communicates with the base, so as long as you can hear the base you should be fine. I have the full monitoring so I don't know about how it acts without it. I have 3 SimpliSafe systems with a total of 10+ water sensors and they work great in each house. And SimpliSafe monitoring has been lightning fast when sensors are activated.
