I DID have to reach my antenna to install this. I have a Nissan Versa and looked it up on Youtube. It turned out to be relatively easy to get my dash apart - at least the part where my radio is. It took about fifteen minutes to get it apart, attach the unit (inline with the antenna) and put it back together. It works GREAT! No more issues with sound fading in and out. FYI - This has nothing to do with the satellite signal but the signal between the Sirius radio and the car radio.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just went thru this issue after my original radio died which was based on 12 volts. I had a spare SP4 radio but since I like my stuff hard wired in I had to purchase a power cord for the base unit. In addition the new power cord operated at lower voltage so it did not have the strength of signal to go to my vehicle antenna thus I had to purchase the FM Direct Adapter you are looking at. Where my radio was in my vehicle made it for a long run for the adapter and of course it was not long enough. Sirius techs were no help on how to make the adapter work or how to get an additional extension for the units antenna to base run. They told me I could splice, WRONG, don't do that. In the end I purchased 2 radio antenna cables 4 feet long each (Amazon). I simply attached one cable to my vehicle antenna and which then attached to the FM Direct adapter. I attached the second cable to the adapter and ran it to the radio. I thus had my needed length. My Ford F350 radio was hard to remove even with the proper tools. A Ford dealer had replaced my instrument panel and had apparently broken one of my radio tabs. They had not bothered to tell me. I needed to remove dash panel to access radio. The adapter installation is relatively simple as long as you can access your radio. Go to YouTube and see whether there is a video for your vehicle on radio removal. Start from there. Good luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You must connect this to the radios antenna connection. If you are unable to get to it then you won't be able to use it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello, This only works when you connect it to the back of the radio. You may need to have a professional install it for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You do have to go in through the back of the radio, this is why we chose to go with Geek Squad. It was inexpensive and barely took an hour to complete!!
