Not in the sense that you can take it anywhere but it is portable from one car to another. If it is fully installed in your first vehicle you can add an additional vehicle kit to move it to another car. You can also purchase the SXSD2 boombox or SXDH4 home kit to take it on the go or in your home/office.

Please try again later.not sure what you mean by portable, it is not a radio, it is a tuner to connect to a radio by wire or FM transmission to a radio, you can get a direct connect kit to connect thourgh the radio antenna on your car radio or connect through FM transmission, you can also get a home kit to use it in the home. or a dock kit that you connet the xm tunner directly on top , the dock kit his its own antenna speakers and amplifer, the xm tunner can be moved from car to house, or to other cars , you would need home kit, or other additional car kits.
