I lay my antennae on the dash most of the time. The magnet just keeps it from sliding around when placed outside of vehicle.

Laying the antenna on the dash of a class c motor home does not provide adequate reception, for any satellite signals coming from above & behind the vehicle - the antenna must be on the roof for adequate install. Again, will the antenna receive XM satellite signals if attached to a NON METAL roof ??
