It does not have to be a dimming light. Google controls the brightness.

Any fixture is fine. I use the google home app and control the brightness. Or you can voice command google to set it to a certain percent.

No, the light is what dims. Has nothing to do with fixture.

Control is by Google voice, these bulbs go from very dim to 60 watts brightness. the control is by percentage from 0 to 100%, and I really like the feature of being able to turn on lights when I'm away from home. The color is quite warm and pleasant.
