Thank you for your question. Yes, you will need to purchase an A/V receiver to power the system. You also will need a subwoofer cable and in-wall rated speaker wire. I would check with Best Buy on the need for speaker wire as they may have charged you for it as part of the installation.

A:AnswerYes when geek squad installed mine. They connected them to my receiver using the wire pre-installed in my wall(new build). Which was bare wire did not have terminals on the ends.

Thank you for your question. These speakers need to be installed into a ceiling or wall for them to work properly. If you are playing them outside of these conditions, then they will not sound good at all.

You could lay the subwoofer on its side. However, you may experience the subwoofer moving or making unwanted noise. The attached rubber feet on the bottom of the sub prevent the subwoofer from moving around due to vibration.
