The recommended cutout diameter for this speaker is 9-1/2”, so a 9-5/8” opening is only 1/8” larger and should still be covered by the speaker’s flange/trim. The MAG8R also requires approximately 5-1/16” of mounting depth, so we recommend confirming you have enough clearance above the ceiling and that the mounting dog toggles have solid material to clamp onto before installation.
