• No. There is no battery. It needs to be hooked up to a power supply always.

• Sonos has released a battery powered speaker, but this is not it. Most Sonos speakers including this one need to be plugged in.

• Sonos SL1's are Not battery operated. Keep them plugged into wall outlet all the time. Speaker top light turns white while in sleep mode. Otherwise, when speakers in use for surround sound top turns green. Amazing sound!
