• I believe what you want and are attempting to do is correct - Yes - you'll want and need the SONOS Port Streaming Media Player - as long as the AMP / Receiver you run the SONOS PORT through gives you the ability to choose the ZONES ( Zone 1 / Zone 2 / Zone 1 + 2 ) you actually want accepting the music stream.

• You would need the Port. If you want autonomous control over the different zones, you would have to buy a Port for each of the two zones.
