Yes this is an amazing wildlife lens. But make sure you use a tripod. And if you are going to antarctica make sure you carry a sandbag to attach to your tripod . High winds and waves will make photogrpahy hard with such a big lens. You need to have enough weight to hold the tripod down firmly.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have used a Tamron 150-600 for years and recently switched gear and now have the Sony 200-600. I shoot wildlife and birds and always have it cranked out to 600mm. It is sharp even when using the 2x in camera telephoto. I have noticed that I really need to use a tripod with this one but the results are amazing. Best of luck. Photo is first day out with NEW camera and lens. Just trying to get a feel for it. Should have raised the speed but you get the idea. No editing on this shot.
