No! I have Dish also and I can turn TV on from the Dish remote or the Sony remote. The only problem is the volume only works with the Sony remote. Weird! It automatically comes to the HDML1.

If you change the following setting, you can change the screen that is displayed when the TV is turned on to the TV broadcast channel or external input such as HDMI that you were watching before turning off the TV. If there are no devices connected to an HDMI input, the HDMI input may not be displayed in the [Input menu]. 1. Press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control 2. Select [Power on behavior], and then select [Last input]. The next time the TV is turned on, the TV broadcast channel or external input such as HDMI that you were watching before turning off the TV will be displayed.
