Hi Co_Dad, Yes. This lens will be able to zoom on your subject very well which is good for sports. Since the amount of light will be limited on indoor sports, to avoid blurry picture you just need to set the ISO to a higher value to compensate with a faster shutter speed. -Anthony

If you keep the shutter speed above 1/250th you should be fine, but you will certainly need good light.
