Yes you will need a separate set top box. The TV has the normal hook up for off air channels. no provision for a direct Cable feed. You'll want to use one of the HDMI connections when connecting your cable box.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Happily, after setting up this gorgeous set I was able to cut the cable box completely out of the set-up. The XBR contains preinstalled apps as well as the opportunity to use and antenna or many of the free channels that come with the installed program called PLUTO TV.
