I had a 55" 900e in my house for about a month. The picture was great. The only problem is that it was too small for our living room. I returned it for a 65" 850e. I'm not enough of a techy to tell the difference between the full array display or edge lit. I'm happy I saved some money because I certainly can't tell the difference. The picture setting options are almost identical to the 900e. It sounds like you'll be using the TV exactly how I'm using mine. 4k viewing and occasional gaming. I'm happy I saved $400 and went with the 850e. You can buy a pretty good sounds bar with the money you saved and you WILL need one because the sound on any TV these days is awful. I bought the VIZIO - SmartCast 36" 5.1-Channel Soundbar System with 5" Wireless Subwoofer and Digital Amplifier. It costs around $200.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the same dilemma. I bought the 900e, but could only afford the 55 inch. I really wanted the 65 inch, and liked the price on the 850 (only $200 more than the 55 inch). So I returned the 900 series, and got the 850. Very small difference in the picture quality. For me, having the larger screen was worth the very small difference in the brightness.
