No. It is a native 120Hz set, but it does use a separate processor which plays with the back lighting to simulate up to 960 Hz refresh rate. There is a great review on Refresh rates on the Web. I have watched sports and action films and have not noticed and significant jitter or edge blur, even at close distances (less than one foot) and using magnification. The upscaling algorithm being used by SONY is top notch.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You may be interested to know that there is no such thing as 240HZ at this time. 240 Motion Rate is not the same as 240Hz. It must have the Hz symbol to be accurate.
