Q: QuestionDoes this do HDR10 and/or Dolby Vision? Is this a 10 bit?

• A:Answer It is 10bit and it is HDR10 but no Dolby Vision. There are only 2-3 titles that even support Dolby Vision and they are on Vudu. Dolby Vision is very niche and likely to vanish (imo).

Some Sony headphones, such as the MDR-RF985RK, MDR-HW300K or MDR-HW700DS headphones, have Bluetooth transmitters that can be connected to the AUDIO OUT port of the TV. Q: QuestionGiven the choice between buying the 930D and the 940D (if price and size is not a issue), which is the better tv? I am confused with hearing about edge lit vs direct full lit, darkness at the corners with white background, 940D no extended range HDR .

• A:Answer The 940D is the better panel / set. FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) allows the panel to backlight the entire screen but control the intensity in very small sections of the screen. The overall result is a much more accurate representation of the contrast, color, and overall quality of the picture in every area. Sets like the 930C that do not have FALD must "generalize" the level of backlighting to best accommodate the entire screen area. This can result in some areas being a little lighter or darker than optimal. There are some reports of the corners either being slightly lighter or darker, and I have observed this on my 940D in the two upper corners, but NEVER with HDR content. And, the slight variance is not noticeable when watching content (the test patterns and such will allow you to focus on the variance and notice it - actual content will not).

Q: QuestionI cannot turn off 3D display when watching 3D content while on HBO on demand. The 3d settings box on the right side of the Tv stays. I have a Sony 75 inch XBR75X940D. When I exit the menu, it doesnt save the settings.

• A:Answer I had similar issue with Bluetooth setting not wanting to stick. Cold-boot the TV. Press and hold power button on remote for 5+ seconds to turn TV OFF. You'll know you got a good reboot if you see swirling color dots and the Sony logo. Android seems really weird about it's settings and smart apps. I have to cold boot about once a week it seems to clear up little things like Netflix issues, etc.

• A:Answer The Xbox One S doesn't play native 4K games, that said it does a great job of up upscaling to 4K. The quality of the images on the X940D is excellent, much better than I expected given what it looked like on my Vizio M70. According to reviews the lag on the Sony in Game mode is about 20ms, a few milliseconds slower than the Vizio, but I can't notice any lag. Keep in mind that 20-25 ms is much shorter time than it takes for your eye to capture the light from the TV, send it to the brain, process the image, formulate a command, send it to the hands and fingers, and move your fingers. You probably wouldn't notice lag until it was around 100ms, which is how long an eye blink lasts. All in all playing Battlefield 1 or Forza on this Sony is a great experience.

Q: QuestionDoes at least one of the Sony XBR 940D's HDMI inputs/outputs support ARC(audio return channel)? If so does it support DTS HD master and Dolby Atmos etc? Also are all the HDMI inputs 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 compliant?

• A:Answer Yes to all the questions. The ARC HDMI input is one. All the HDMI inputs are 2.0 and HDCP2.2 compliant and thus fulfill the most recent and exacting criteria for true 4K, HDR.

• A:Answer Yes, to support 4K you need the 2.0 type cable. I purchased both the monster cable and an audio quest hdmi cables just to get the most out the tv. They both work great and produce clear picture.

Q: QuestionDoes this TV work with Amazon Echo or Amazon Echo Dot? I want to be able to turn my TV off by using my voice

• A:Answer Yes you can! Just last month I purchased the Logitech Harmony Companion. Includes a remote and the hub. To use voice I added my Amazon Echo Dot to the mix. After setup: (which was not to bad however I have had Harmony's remotes before) I can now walk in the door and just say - Alexa turn on the TIVO and my 940D, Denon 4300H receiver, turn on. It then changes to correct inputs/outputs (HDMI) on everything. Then I use the remote to control the channels etc. Now if I want to watch a BD disc I just say Alexa turn on BluRay and the BD player turns on and everything changes to the correct input. Remote automatically changes to BD functions. When you are done simply say : Alexa turn off Home theater/entertainment center and everything turns off.. (Can't remember as I got it last night but it worked perfectly). This morning I said alexa turn on radio and just the denon comes on and plays the radio. When I left for work I said Alexa turn off Denon and it turned off. Took me an hour to get preliminary stuff set up. I also copied over the settings from my Harmony One remote to the new one so ALOT of work was pre done. There are some very good videos out there to help. Right now the voice is to turn off/on and change activites- play Roku/ play BD/ play TiVo etc. Also they add to Alexa skill the ability to pause and play. A couple of days ago they added things like: Alexa play Netflix and it will turn on everything it needs to and go to Netflix. You can also do that for TV. FE: Alexa play CBS. (not sure of exact words but my cousin has it working and I will set it up tonight. I think the hub may be all that you need for activites/ turn on/off etc. - Then you can use your current remote to forward, rewind etc. I will try my Harmony One to make sure it works tonight. I got the companion which has a remote and the hub. Good luck

• A:Answer The 850D does not have any kind of local dimming and has an IPS panel. IPS panels do provide a wider viewing angle, but the contrast ratio suffers. When daylight or indoor lighting is present, this tv will look good, but in the absence of ambient lighting, blacks will be grayish, and appear to glow. The 940D has full array local dimming and a VA panel. These features will dramatically improve contrast, and the blacks in a dark room will truly be black. The 850D is a good TV, but if you see them side by side in a dark room, the 940D will look much better.
