A: Hi LoveBoatCaptain! The main difference is the LED backlight. The X930D has an edge LED, while the X940D has direct LED. -Anthony
Q: Does this do HDR10 and/or Dolby Vision? Is this a 10 bit?
A: It is 10bit and it is HDR10 but no Dolby Vision. There are only 2-3 titles that even support Dolby Vision and they are on Vudu. Dolby Vision is very niche and likely to vanish (imo).
Q: What kind of 3D glasses do you need to buy for this TV? Will any Sony glasses work?
A: My Sony TDG-BT500A glasses work with this television.
Q: Is it possible to use wireless headphones with the 940D. Thanks
A: Hi Jdeast, Yes. It is possible. Some Sony headphones, such as the MDR-RF985RK, MDR-HW300K or MDR-HW700DS headphones, have Bluetooth transmitters that can be connected to the AUDIO OUT port of the TV. Here's how it works: https://docs.sony.com/release//MDRRF985RK_EN_FR.pdf. Thanks! -Vincent
A: The 940D is the better panel / set. FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) allows the panel to backlight the entire screen but control the intensity in very small sections of the screen. The overall result is a much more accurate representation of the contrast, color, and overall quality of the picture in every area. Sets like the 930C that do not have FALD must "generalize" the level of backlighting to best accommodate the entire screen area. This can result in some areas being a little lighter or darker than optimal. There are some reports of the corners either being slightly lighter or darker, and I have observed this on my 940D in the two upper corners, but NEVER with HDR content. And, the slight variance is not noticeable when watching content (the test patterns and such will allow you to focus on the variance and notice it - actual content will not).
Q: difference between the 940d and z9d
A: Hi billf, they're almost the same. However, the X940D series doesn't have X-tended Dynamic Range™ PRO which is present in the Z9D series. Thanks! ^Ron
A: I had similar issue with Bluetooth setting not wanting to stick. Cold-boot the TV. Press and hold power button on remote for 5+ seconds to turn TV OFF. You'll know you got a good reboot if you see swirling color dots and the Sony logo. Android seems really weird about it's settings and smart apps. I have to cold boot about once a week it seems to clear up little things like Netflix issues, etc.
Q: Does the Sony XBR75X940D TV pass 5.1 channel audio through its optical output?
A: Hi Rodney, The Digital Audio Out (Optical) supports two-channel linear PCM, Dolby Digital and DTS audio signal. Please check this link for more details: https://docs.sony.com/release//Ref_4584788121.pdf -Jerome
