I find it to be very user friendly. You will need to purchase a flash however the lowlight settings are pretty impressive. If you’re shooting with a tripod you can adjust your shutter speed and aperture to let more light in... if not you can brighten things up with the ISO settings.

This camera take amazing photos in auto mode though if you are a beginner. Depending on what kind of photos you will be taking, you may need a flash to capture more light in your photo (eg studio photos or very dark settings)
