Hi, You don't need it, the device can reach really good distances.

No yo will not there is a good mic built into the device.

I have one with a external mic and one with out they both work great to me so I think you can get by with out it.

The ICDPX333 has a built in microphone. If you want to connect an external microphone you can connect it to the microphone input.

Depends on your environment. I haven't had to use one and I sit in the back of the lecture hall. You can add one if needed though.
