“When i connect my camera to my laptop that is the only way it comes on but i can only see pictures ive already taken. I cant take a new picture because when i try, the camera just turns off. I thought it was the batteries but i just bought a new pack”

Hi Mike, please try to initialize the camera to see if it solves the issues. MENU => (Settings) => (Main Settings) => [Initialize] => [OK].
