I'm sure that they will eventually stop making Play Station 4 controllers just like they did for Play Station 3 but it took a while before they stopped. When a new system comes out it takes a long time to get enough people that have them before they can start moving away from the last system. When the sales for Play Station 4 start slowing down because of PS5 then they will quit making them. It's a good idea to get some extras before they stop selling them but I'm guessing that you will have at least a year after Play Station 5 comes out before that even becomes a problem and probably much longer because a lot of us wait until the prices come down.
