You can attach it as an external media device, so you can back it up to computer. I don't think you can back it up directly to a flash drive, but just plug it into the USB port on your computer, and everything shows up in the finder on Mac or Windows Explorer on a PC. There's a built in USB cable that will plug directly into the computer. You can also charge it from a powered USB hub.
