• According to the specs you should be able to choose either connection. If you want HDMI ARC it does have to be a wired connection. You should Also be able to connect wirelessly through Bluetooth only between the TV and soundbar.

• You have to hardwire the soundbar for ARC. The Bluetooth works for you phone and other electronics.
