Hi Barry, Thank you for your question, Barry. A smartphone (Android with OS 11 or higher or iOS with version 15 or higher) is required for the setup and Sony OTC hearing aids. A smartphone with the Sony | Hearing Control app will allow the user to change volume, sound balance, and make fine tuning adjustments but is not necessary for use of the hearing aids beyond the initial setup and self-fitting process.
