Q: QuestionWill this stereo support old 70s/80s big stereo speakers that use rca jacks/ component jack instead of the perverbial speaker wire? Also what is the return policy
Asked by Gabe.
- A:Answer Yes you can - if they are 8 ohm speakers. Many vintage speakers had either screw terminals, or the "RCA" type input jacks. These were were still 8 ohm, and you would solder the speaker wire to an RCA plug. Keep polarity correct - I always used the center pin as positive, so phasing was correct.

Q: QuestionMy sub only has RCA inputs. Can I use the audio out RCA connectors to hook up my sub?
Asked by Joel.
- A:Answer Hi Joel, Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, you cannot use the RCA audio out ports to connect your subwoofer. However, you can connect the subwoofer to the speaker IN port of this receiver. Please make sure to check the subwoofer to determine if it has IN and OUT speaker wire connections. If so, connect the left and right speaker wires from the stereo receiver into the left and right speaker IN on the subwoofer. Then, connect speaker wire from the left and right speaker OUT on the subwoofer to the left and right main speakers. If the subwoofer does not have IN and OUT speaker wire connections, then it will not be compatible with the stereo receiver. Hope this helps! Regards, Sam

I would suggest connecting speakers using speaker cables with the polarities + (red)/– (black) matched between the receiver and the speaker. Also, please make sure to connect speakers with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms to 16 ohms. -Sam

Q: QuestionWill wireless speakers work with this unit?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Not without an external wireless "broadcaster" of some kind. The bluetooth is only for connecting to an audio source it does not send.

Q: QuestionHow many CD do these hold?
Asked by Carla.
- A:Answer It's a receiver, so on it's own... it does not "hold" any CDs. You can connect multiple CD players, jukeboxes, etc. I have a single disc CD player, 6x 300 disc CD changers, and 2x 200 disc CD changers connected (using a few input switches in between). I've also got a Hi-Res Sony audio player, an Onkyo Hi-MD, a U-Turn turntable, and a JVC dual cassette deck attached. This receiver is amazing for audio-centric use.

Q: QuestionCan you hook up a equalizer
Asked by Steve.
- A:Answer I have just successfully integrated an EQ to my Sony STR-DH190. An inexpensive new $70 EQ. Learning that without the typical Tape Back loop, the EQ was not compatible with this AV receiver. After researching and attempting a couple work arounds, I am happy to report success. Allow me to explain. I purchased the Sony STR-DH190 for my front room. I wanted an inexpensive receiver with a Phono input, so I could play vinyl in the main area of the house. This was my main goal. Everything was going well. I just felt like during playback of typical vinyl, I achieved more than enough volume. The Bass and Treble settings were fine for getting some basic sound variance. But there was some definite room for shaping sound to fit good vinyl playback. I realized I did not need to EQ the receiver for all external device playback. It sounded fine for Bluetooth sources and assuming the same for Tape, CD, or MP3 if decide to add. So I decided to try direct EQ of the Turntable. and only the TT. Success ! As the low level of the TT would not be sufficient as in input for the EQ, I picked up a $30 Phono Preamp. So, turntable to preamp, preamp to EQ (aux input), EQ to Receiver on Input 1. It very much achieved the desired result. No issues with it so far and sound is shaped better than expected. Volume is excellent. No hum or distortion. If this fits your need, I highly recommend. Phono Preamp $30ish. All in all, this is exactly what I hoped for !

Q: QuestionIs there a fix to the humming noise? It's not that noticeable when something is playing, but when there's a quiet part on tv or in between songs, this unit hums annoying loud.
Asked by msederh.
- A:Answer We only have our Sony receiver hooked up to our stereo components. So far only listened to albums and didn’t notice any humming. Could it be an issue with your cable/satellite receiver or your hook ups?

Q: QuestionHow many speakers can hook in to this receiver?
Asked by Speaker.
- A:Answer This has the capability to run 4 speakers, 2 on the "A" connections & 2 on the "B" connection. You can run 2 "A" speakers 2 "B" speakers or all 4. They are NOT Front & Rear, so it's not a 4 channel system. Usually you would use the "B" speakers in another area of the house. I also hooked my system to our Bose Surround System using the low level outputs (RCA) meant for recording. These output at all times and can't be turned off, I'm adding a switch to turn them off.
