From my research, as long as you have a "High Speed" HDMI cable, it will work. I did have to buy a ten foot cable to reach from my Denon AVR to the TV. Apparently it is a marketing ploy to get you to buy new, and expensive, cables specifically labeled "4K". Mine are older high speed cables and they work just fine. I check to see what resolution our Samsung TV (by pressing the "Enter" button on the remote) is displaying in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Blu-Rays look great! Good luck!
