It only has the pre-loaded apps. On the plus side, it loads discs quickly. My last Sony blu-ray player took more than 2 minutes to power on and load the (unused) apps before it would start loading the disc. This model takes perhaps 15 seconds.

This answer is incorrect, you CANNOT load new apps, even with a software update. Returning mine to get one that can stream apple and disney

It is very easy to download new Apps. On the "My Apps" menu simply highlight the box with the + (plus symbol) and press enter.
