Yes, the player you are looking to purchase is a very good DVD player. I had another Sony that played DVD's fine but it would NOT play Blue Ray discs. This BDP-S3700 playes regular and Blue Ray discs just fine. The same cables that I used for my other Sony players and the player I had before both of these Sony players work just fine.
