• Yes, this bluray player willl play standard dvds, and the video is upgraded a bit over vuewing on a standard dvd player. You'll need an hdmi cable to connect the unit to your tv. If you have wireless internet it will hook up to your wifi without cables. The box and the description on line clarifies these things too.
