“When the DVD player is on its home screen, I get an intermittent screen signal. The screen will show for about three seconds and then it will go black for about 10 seconds. But when I play the DVD it appears to work fine. How do I remedy this?”

Might be your internet signal. I have a DVD player that is currently wifi and will act like the picture is stuck or sluggish. DVD player is maybe 5' from the router. I'm going to use an Ethernet cable which will help with lag time. Shop around this cable is a cheap fix.
