Hi there! Currently, this model is not capable of playing tapes. Sony no longer has a digital voice recorder that supports tapes. But if you're interested in a Sony device that is not a voice recorder but plays tapes, I would suggest for you to get the CFDS70 boombox. Thanks! Regards, Sam
