In order to record from an external source you either place the call in speaker and press the record button to use the internal microphone on the Voice recorder or you can connect the audio out of your telephone if available and use the Microphone port on the recorder, keep in mind that the cord needs to be purchased separately. A: You have a choice to do either way, keep it on the recorder or erasing when transferring.
A: Yes I was able to use it with Dragon Naturally Speaking 13 on first day - it recognized the device and work very well. Even was able to train Dragon with it. Not sure if this version of Dragon that you have - but it work for me You can transfer recording to PC using Sony software also and then read it in.
