DSEE-HX is built in to the headphones and functions independently of the device that it is connected to. It's job is to upsample/reconstruct any audio coming in. A welcome addition to help uncripple any bluetooth audio source that (by design) suffers from loss of audio quality due to compression. This audio loss is present on EVERY bluetooth device and is necessary to combat low bandwidth present on bluetooth connections.

Yes, if you want to control it. It can be turned on or off in the App.

It says it works on other phones. I do not use it. It does shorten your battery life somewhat according to the user manual.
