The Sony - WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Headphones - Black have great sound quality, a helpful, feature rich and intuitive app, and premium feeling build quality. The design requires that the ear buds be pushed deep into the ear canal and the form factor is on the large side. Despite the size, the WF-1000XM3 do not feel particularly heavy during use. As a result, any ear fatigue may be more likely caused by the choice of silicone ear tips with respect to the size of the individual ear canal.
One technical issue that I have experienced periodically and usually just during the initial phase of use is a slight one or half second pause in the left earbud. This could be due to the noise cancelling feature residing predominantly in the left earbud, or a pause caused by maintaining a connection to the source device and right earbud simultaneously. With that said, each earbud can be used independently, and that's good for providing extended use and overall convenience.
The case is large, but it's understandable given the sized of the earbuds and the battery life offered. I have been able to listen on an off for extended periods of time between recharges although I have not officially experienced any heavy or all day use days so far. Wireless charging is not an option with this case that charges solely via USB Type C.
I would describe the call quality as average since sometimes calls were characterized by ample static interference and other times the my voice and that of the person on the line appeared to transmit more clearly.
The ambient noise feature is interesting considering the controls within the app considering the combination passive and active noise cancellation capabilities this product offers. The passive and active ANC is impressive considering the fact that this and in ear as opposed to an over the ear model of True Wireless Earbuds.
Overall, I am quite happy with my purchase at $158.00 for a premium set of true wireless earbuds with ANC features. At this price for this this product; I do not believe the buyer would be disappointed.

I've been using the Sony WF-1000xm3 (quite a mouthful) for the past 3 weeks, and I am amazed with how much they were able to pack into such a small package. But, I was also disappointed with other aspects of the product.
Pro's:
The active noise cancellation is good for background noises, like a fan spinning on full speed, up to the sound of a car passing by, but with just noise cancelling alone, you won't cut out a lot of noise, but when paring with most music, almost all background sounds disappear, unless a loud vehicle [passes by or a sudden noise occurs.
The responsiveness of the touch controls are quick and snappy.
The comfort of the earbuds with the stock tips are wonderful, but I found that using some ear tips like Dekoni's make these earbuds even more effective at blocking out noise.
The built in microphone is good, with tons of clarity.
The case feels premium, with a nice opening hinge, and a nice matte black exterior that is smooth, but easy to grip onto.
The battery life available with the earbuds is long with ANC on, and by the time the battery would wear out, I'm already done with listening to music or a podcast.
The Bluetooth (5.0) is wonderful, and makes latency almost near impossible to notice, giving experience for watching movies.
Cons:
The earbuds and their case, are fingerprint magnets, and if you really love having a pristine look to your earbuds and your case, you will always need something to wipe them down.
The case's top piece (the one that opens up and closes) is easily damaged. When I was working, I put the case in my pocket for safe keeping, and after a 6 hour shift I saw that the shiny coating of gold was damaged. (Note, the top piece did not have any scratches in it)
The app that you must download to use these earbuds, is only compatible with phones, tablets, and the like. I have not been able to discover a way to connect these tips to my computer, which saddens me, because I would like to be able to use these earbuds with any device.
The microphone, since it is so clear, will pick up everything else around you.
The right earbud at times cannot act alone, without the left one out. For example, today I took the right earbud out as to listen to some music, while having my left ear open for anything else, and when I tried to play some music by tapping the right side once, the music wouldn't begin, even though my phone was connected to the earbud. The music only began after I took the left earbud out, and let it go through its startup program.
The sound:
As far as Bluetooth goes, these are on the higher end of Bluetooth audio. The sound signature given by these earbuds is more focused on treble, with nice undertones of bass, but more so as a tint of bass. With bass heavy songs, these earbuds failed to give the experience I was looking for, but for songs dealing with vocals, instrumentals, and the like, these earbuds excelled!
Overall, if you are looking for a nice pair of Bluetooth to take with you on the go, these are the buds for you, where you can have ANC to cut out annoying people, and an ambient sound option, if you ever need to hear those people! But, if you are looking for the best audio out there, you should stick to wired.

I love the single ear piece usage even with Ambient sound mode listing with one ear is still the best. The noise cancelling actually works and is quite comfortable it doesn't leave you with a sort of headache or bubbly feeling. But one this that is a bit bothersome is it has no compatibility with exercising the ear pieces fall out and are not Waterproof in the slightest. If you are looking for exercise earbuds these are not the ones but for great everyday earbuds I would buy these 10 out of 10.

These have amazing sound. Bass is heavy but not too heavy, highs are crystal clear, vocals ring through. The ambient noise canceling works well; it drowns out background noise in the office, and almost (but not quite) gets rid of the noise on the train. Battery life is really, really good. Easy to find a good fit/seal with the many sizes of plugs that come in the package. There are two minor drawbacks. One, when on a call, the other party hears a lot of background noise, to the point where they can barely hear me over it in noisier places. I probably would not recommend these for someone who is on the phone a lot. Two, they don’t fit my ears perfectly; the plugs fit great and seal fine, but they put slight pressure on my tragi (the bits that hang out in front of the ear opening). They’re fine for a while, but after a couple hours or more it starts to get a little uncomfortable. Again, probably not the best earbuds for phone-first users. But if you’re wanting the best earbuds for listening to music, and want the ability to answer or make a call if the need arises, these are them.

I was between these, the 2nd generation Apple AirPods, and the beats model that are comparable. I went with these at the recommendation of the sales rep. “Get these! Sony is known for their dominance in sound quality”
To my surprise, they actually sounded fantastic. They’re comfortable, the noise cancellation setting works incredibly, and THANK GOD….they actually stay in your ear without wrapping around your ear entirely like some of the “fitness oriented” models.
Not going to lie -these things also strangely never die. I charged the case with the earbuds inside them once and I didn’t have to charge them again for a week. Wow. That being said, I do return them to charge in the case every time I’m done with them (as you should). The case holds an extra 10 plus house is extra charge in them.
After trying them for 2 days in comparison to the Apple AirPods (2nd gen), for the price 150 versus 200, I’d go with the Sony’s.

Sounds pretty great. Loved the design as well. No water or sweat proofing and also the App is terrible for iOS. I took forever to connect. For the premium price we may I won’t recommend it. Personally it’s little oversized for my ear. May I will wait and see how they design the next version. For now I cannot accept the features for this price point.

I'm a bit of an audiophile, and I really love noise canceling headsets - although I prefer over the ear standard headsets.
The Sony WF-1000XM3's are by far the best sounding and best fitting In-Ears I've tried. They can't compare with over the ear headsets in my opinion, but they do a really great job.
I've had trouble keeping ear-bud's in on many, many, previous in-ear headphones. The Sony come with many different size in-ear adapters in the box, and I was able to find one that fit me perfectly. The first time I've ever been able to keep earbuds/in-ears walking around the house, doing things etc... That is a great feeling - like they aren't about to fall out all the time.
The noise canceling is very good, but still not on par with over the hear headsets - so don't expect anything amazing. In addition, it's not going to keep out "Bass" sounds very well at all. e.g. if your significant other snores - you'll hear that pretty clearly. It's much better at keeping out the higher frequencies e.g. inside an airplane.
The size is a bit bigger than normal - both physical size of headphones and the case. It's about the size of 2 ipod air cases put together - and thicker. Each actual earbud is about 1/4" shorter than the longest part of an individual AirPods. However, the AirPods point down - the Sony's point horizontally.
I've used it to talk on my iPhone - works great and sounds great - comes in very handy. I've also hooked them up via Bluetooth to my Windows 10 computer for audio and voice - no problem.
Touch control works well - you can turn on/off noise canceling, pause music, answer calls, etc...
So they sound great, fit great, noise canceling is better than I expected for in-ear - touch controls are nice, and it's incredible easy to setup and pair to a phone and Windows 10 via Bluetooth.
I'm very happy with the purchase! I carry them around all the time.

Typing this up, I realized that I have a problem. To date, I own Bose Soundsports, Bose quietcomfort 35, Apple AirPods, and I just returned the Jabra Elite 65t (my least favorite). I have all of these because each serves a purpose; gym, travel, business calls. Before purchasing the Sony WFs I used my Bose quietcomfort for a lot of business travel. Great headphones but walking from the plane to the meeting was stressful if I didn’t comb my hair because of the indent from the headband. Also, my ears would be warm from the cups covering my ears on long flights. Don’t get me wrong, they are wonderful. But I decided to splurge a little and try these Sony earbuds. Jabra failed me (uncomfortable) and the AirPods Pros have a short life cycle. These Sony earbud give me the best of all worlds. Great sounding, small, comfortable earbuds with Insane noise cancellation. Setup can be a little easier but not difficult enough to register as a real negative. Of all my headphones, these are the champions.

I bought these earbuds a few weeks ago and they’ve been great. Ill start with the cons: they’re a little screwy when you try connecting with multiple devices, they have issues when connecting to my pc (sometimes only sound will work sometimes only mic, others have had this issue as well), and they fall out with heavy movement after a while. However, I am giving them five stars as they do everything they’re supposed to (and more) when using them with a mobile device- the sound quality is amazing for wireless buds (great but not overpowering bass, crisp treble and mellow mids, there are rarely any connection issues, they fit well and are very comfortable (however you start to feel it after a few hours), the noise cancelling works very well, and the app for them is full of features. You can get the sound exactly how you like it with the equalizer. Overall, I doubt you can find a better sounding earbud with more features than these, great for everyone except if you plan on heavy workout sessions.

My second pair Has the first pair broke left a review on insurance in which I said things break why wouldn’t you have insurance. This is why you have insurance. These are the best headphones I have and I have quite a few pears these headphones last eight or more hours they are comfortable they come with lots of different sizes when the battery is low it only takes 10 minutes to charge it back to full so if you’re going to buy a pair of headphones to exercise in these, You do not have to worry about them falling out, I’ve been on the treadmill, been hiking & never had to worry about them falling out.

TL:DR If you have the money and want great all around wireless earbuds with a long battery life and that’ll stay comfortable the whole time you’re wearing them, buy these. Just don’t expect much from the built in microphone or the bass response
I just recently bought these earbuds and may I say this is the single best headphone purchase I have ever made. I have been through countless numbers of earbuds trying to find ones that would work the best for me but I could never find any that worked for me. I personally use the foam ear tips that come included (thank you Sony) in the box. These successfully block out every bit of unwanted sound. The only issue I have with this pair of earbuds is the microphone. Any time I try to take phone calls o just repeatedly get told that the person on the other end can’t hear me but that is the only issue I have.

These earbuds have a solid design and pair easily with the iPhone. I truly appreciate the ambient sound control. They’re a bit sensitive to motion if you turn on Adaptive Sound Control. I like the preset listening modes, particularly “Excited” which is perfect for how I like to listen to music. Battery life has been impressive. This earns a perfect score with sound controls added to the earbuds and water proofing.

I used to have the beoplay e8 headphones before this and those had a bit better base, but I could only use the right one if i wanted to use one earphone only. Sound quality, it is better or as good as the $300 competitors and better than AirPods.
Only con is the lack of ip rating, but buy it with bestbuy protection plan and you’re set for the gym. No volume control on earphones is a bummer, but being able to only connect to one device is a step back, it’s 2019: I want to watch tv and be able to answer a phone call. Would recommend, it is bigger than other true wireless headphones, but comes with noise canceling so it is worth the trade off. A 4.5 out of 5 in my book. I can overlook it’s few flaws for what it can do. Buy now, thee Sony headphones are the AirPod killers

Sony Brings the Noise with Good, but Flawed Earbud

I was excited to test these headphones as I love Sony’s portable audio products, but I was a bit disappointed. I’d rate these as a 3.5 out of 5. And, quite frankly, they’re hard to recommend. At least, they’re hard for me to recommend as everyday headphones. Don’t get me wrong, the sound is mostly pretty good. I get way more bass and a much clearer audio presentation from these than I do Apple AirPods and similar offerings from Jlab and JVC. If that is all it takes to put you over the edge, then pick a set up. I think if you are a frequent flyer, these headphones are a no-brainer. They travel well, and the battery life has been pretty good in my usage.
The adaptive audio has done a good job controlling outside sound. Walking outside on a windy day in Oklahoma, I can hear every note and word. The earbuds do a good job drowning out loud appliances and road noise.
I love the case. There’s a magnet in the case that snaps the buds into place as you get them close to their slot. The charging lights and design of the case and the buds are great. I like the USB-C connection. I would have preferred a longer cable or a cable built into the case, but that’s a nitpick.
But, that’s where the good news ends. I had a lot of problems with these Earbuds… On my iPhone 7, I had random disconnections. The right ear wanted to cut out a lot. But I didn’t have those same disconnects on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. The earbuds don’t fit my ears very well and are designed to go deep into the ear canal. If they aren’t sealed well in the ear canal, the noise cancellation does not work quite as well. On the subject of fit, I couldn’t find a ear tip that fit all that well. The earbuds didn’t want to stay in my ear while I walked. Consequently, I found myself accidentally accessing the touch controls repeatedly as I tried to keep the earbuds in the ear.
The touch controls worked better than the JLAB Air Sport True Wireless headphones, but some of the features like cupping the ear for quick attention mode, never worked for me. The Sony Headphones Connect app works well enough, but it was also constantly using my phone’s location information while in use.
Google Assistant worked great with my Android devices, but on iPhone it required using the Google Assistant App, which has never worked right for me. Sometimes it works, and sometimes I have to restart the app multiple times while cursing Google. It also made little sense to have the Google Assistant on iPhone as you can access Siri by holding down the right touch sensor. Thankfully, you don’t have to use Google Assistant and can program the left sensor for ambient sound controls. But again, on Android, the Google Assistant controls worked great.
Hands free calling was a mixed bag. The touch controls worked and I could hear the other person on the line clear as if they were in the room, but they told me I was hard to hear.
Over the last year, I have been lucky enough to use the Apple AirPods, the JVC Sport True Wireless Earbuds, and the JLAB JBuds Air Sport True Wireless earbuds. In terms of audio quality, the Sony WF-1000XM3 are the clear winner. If the Bluetooth connection did not cut out and the headphones stayed in my ear, these were the obvious favorites. But, the JLAB earbuds fit my ear better and have a hook to keep them in place. Even the JVC buds stayed in my ear better. The Sony WF-1000XM3 looked and sounded better, but the JLABS were a third of the price and stayed on my ear. So, guess which set I will be using more for my every day?
So, I guess I am begrudgingly recommending them if you have a newer phone (preferably android / google based) and you are okay with the headphone fit. I'm hoping some of my problems were connected to my current iPhone and that these EarBuds will be much more stable on my next phone. Software can and will be patched, but I'm not sure how I will get them to stay in my ear comfortably.
