• Hi JMan23, Good news! You can remove one unit from the charging case and use it by itself. In this case, only the unit that has been removed from the charging case will turn on. I hope this helps! -Vincent

• Yes! However when you do choose to use the other earbud, it may fail to connect. But the simple solution is to place both in the case and then take them out simultaneously to reset the connection.
