I have to charge the case after every use, otherwise completely dead next time I want to use em.

The pamphlet is correct. If you don't use these, the battery will last for 6 months. If you are actively using them, charge the earbuds when they are low on battery and charge the case when it is low on battery. Charging the earbuds is as easy as placing them in the case
