“Hi I bought Sony wireless WH-CH710N earphones to listen to my TV which is 2014 LG smart TV(not Bluetooth enabled) so I bought a Bluetooth 3.0 transmitter but that does not seem to be working either... any advice on how to get them working? thanks”

I have the same issue so I bought a transmitter too. Not sure of the brand you have, but I had to plug it in to the headphone jack on the side of the tv in order for the sound to go through. For some reason it wasn't working when I plugged it into the red and yellow colored inputs.
